How to Maintain Your College GPA?

College can be tough on you. How do you prepare yourself for a successful school year? Getting good grades requires commitment. Most of us college students have jobs, and kids. How do you balance them all while maintaining a high GPA?

How I was able to survive 4 years of college and maintain a high GPA?

First, know your expectations. Where do you want to be once you graduate from college? Secondly, getting your education must be set to priority. How do you prioritize your education? You have to set specific days of the week that is dedicated only to your schoolwork. If you have other things to do on that day, get it done beforehand or after you complete your schoolwork. It's best not to have anything planned on your study days.

If you are a mother or father, study time should be after the kids are in bed or while they're in school. I like to study on late nights. It's my quiet time and I don't have to worry about anyone disturbing me. When I study, I like to listen to Smooth Jazz music. It comforts me mentally and it relaxes me. If you prefer to study and do your homework quietly, that's fine as well. The point is to do whatever enhances your studying capability.

When you are working a full-time or part-time job, it will make it harder for you to prioritize your education. I realize that we all have bills to pay. We get stressed out whenever we know that the bills are due. There is a way to still work and go to school. The best job to work while getting your education is a job that has flexibility. You need a job that would allow you to set your own work schedule. An independent contractor is the best job for college students or having an understanding boss that will allow you to work on the days that are best for you. What are the odds of getting a boss like that though?

Stress. Stay away from stressful situations while trying to complete school. If this is your study day, and someone is bothering you while you're trying to study. Turn your cellphone off. No phone calls nor social media. As stated earlier, school is set to PRIORITY and it is second to none. Toxic relationships and toxic friendships affect your learning capabilities. Why? Because you will constantly be thinking about the drama that is going on in your life when you should be focused on school. Basically, omit the things and people that stress you out.

Prioritize your workload. If you get an assignment that is due on the same day, do the hardest assignment first. However, if you have one that is going to take longer than the other to complete, do the one that will take less time to complete first. This will allow you to focus more on the one that requires more work. The shorter assignments are usually the easiest assignments to complete. Because it does not require much strain on your brain.

I have had to type 30 pages before for a research paper. My advice to you is, don't start long assignments at the last minute. Usually, you will know what is due for the week, a week in advance. So, you have time to get started on your assignment ASAP. Research papers take a long time to complete.

And last but not least. Take breaks in between study time. Whenever you begin to feel exhausted, step away from studying. Do something relaxing and reward yourself at the end of your study time. Do something that makes you happy. Follow these tips and you will be on your way to a successful school year.
